Merrick Fire Volunteers Named People of the Year

The Merrick Fire Department was honored as "People of the Year" by the Merrick Herald

Not only were the volunteers extremely happy helping those in distress during the storm, but they managed to hold a food and clothing drive for those affected by the devastation in Long Beach.

Emergency personnel also responded to two house fires in Merrick during Sandy, including one on Kenny Avenue and another on Elliott Street.

Well done MFD! As a longtime citizen of Merrick, I personally greatly appreciate all you do for us. I think Patch should also do something to honor these beyond- committed/brave men and women.
