#92 – Brooks and Porter
You don't have to travel to Manhattan for a hip steakhouse when there is one at home.
When you have an urge to enjoy an upscale meal without wanting to trouble to Manhattan, check out Brooks & Porter – right by the railroad without having to take it. What could be better?
The surroundings are ultra cool, with cathedral ceilings, lounge lighting and balcony seating. The restaurant boasts that its “posh décor is reminiscent of that found in the 1930s deco, big-city train stations.”
The physical atmosphere isn’t the only showstopper. USDA prime age beef fills the menu in the form of porterhouses, filet mignon or bone-in rib steaks. Ala carte sides include potatoes every which way and a cornucopia of sautéed vegetables. Macaroni and cheese with homemade bread crumbs or two slabs of extra thick bacon are among their top sellers.

For those who do not enjoy meat or steaks, seafood dishes include steak house-sized shrimp scampi or wild king salmon. The restaurant also offers a raw bar filled with lobster, clams and oysters.
Don’t fill up on dinner and appetizers alone. Desserts come in the form of pies, cakes or specialty martinis. Daily specialty drinks are offered, like their key lime pie martini.
