Islanders Set to Ride the Rails to Brooklyn

The team will hold training camp in the city, but not before holding a Thursday ceremony at an area LIRR station.

The New York Islanders might be late for training camp this year - they're taking the Long Island Rail Road.

The team announced that its general manager and a few players would take an 8:51 a.m. train from Garden City on Thursday, arriving at Atlantic Terminal at 9:35 a.m.

The players, coaching staff and Barclays Center dignitaries will pose for a group photo before preparing for the team's first-ever practice on the arena ice.

The Islanders will host the New Jersey Devils in a preseason game at Barclays Center on Sept. 21, marking the first-ever NHL game at the arena.

The team is slated to move full-time to Brooklyn after the 2014-2015 season.
