Eric Fegan and Jordan Liebman both seniors at Kennedy High School, have qualified as Finalists in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Fegan continues to excel in academics as an AP Scholar with Distinction and a member of five honor societies. He is currently the president and four year member of the math team. Fegan has qualified for the American Invitational Math Examination for the third year in a row.

Most recently, he finished third in the Nassau County Interscholastic Math League and has also been chosen as a candidate for the 2013 U. S. Presidential Scholars Program which is by invitation only. Semifinalists will be chosen in April and up to 141 students will be named as Presidential Scholars in May, one of the Nation's highest honors for high school students.

Fegan is also a very talented musician. He is a four year member of Kennedy’s Jazz Ensemble and a two year member of the Pit Orchestra.

Although accepted to MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Fegan had not made a final decision as to where he intends to attend college to study engineering.

Liebman is a member of four honor societies. He has also been a member of several clubs including Helping Our Planet Earth (H.O.P.E.), Athletes Helping Athletes, Class Government, Math Team, and Math Mentorship Program, where he was a Gold medal winner in the Long Island Math Fair.

Most recently, Liebman was a member of Kennedy’s Virtual Enterprise Team, “Cupcake Break”, who placed first in the Long Island Business Plan Competition.

A true leader, Liebman has served as a member of United Synagogue Youth’s International General Board Committee and has been Vice President of its Regional and Divisional Executive Boards. As an integral member of Write on for Israel, Liebman uses his rhetorical acumen to advocate on Israel’s behalf. In addition, he volunteers his time to teach young students Hebrew at his local synagogue.

Jordan will be attending Yale University.
