Merrick Man Arrested For Assault

Daryle McClenic, 26, allegedly assaulted a 54-year-old man with two other men in Roosevelt, police said.

A Merrick man was recently arrested and charged with assault, police said.

According to authorities, Daryle McClenic, 26, of Merrick along with Jefferson Sherrod, 37, of Hempstead and Davon Butler, 28, of Hempstead went to a residence on Spring Street in Roosevelt on July 5. 

The three men allegedly kicked in the door and struck a 54-year-old man with a wooden club repeatedly. Police said that the house belonged to a relative of the defendants and the three men were unsatisfied with the way that the victim, who was living at the residence, was taking care of the home. 

The men then fled the scene. The victim was transported to a hospital where he was treated for a concussion, contusions, abrasions and lacerations to the body, police said.

McClenic was charged with second-degree assault and two counts of first-degree burglary.

Sherrod was with second-degree assault and second-degree burglary and Butler was charged with second-degree assault and third-degree burglary.
