Bellmore

  • On April 10, a woman on Bell Court was targeted in a “granny scam” on and gave $1,000 to the suspect. For more details, click here.
  • A North Bellmore man was arrested on April 18 and charged with assault and drug possession. For more details, click here.
  • Two students were followed by a green four-door sedan while they walked home from Merrick Avenue Middle School on April 16, according to Principal Meador Pratt. For more details, click here.
Freeport
  • Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced that Lloyd Williams has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for killing a Roosevelt man in a drunk driving crash while fleeing the scene of a Freeport shooting.
  • While on Sussex Rd./Hempstead Tpke on April 14, undercover detectives observed Luis Serrano-Nova, 56, of Reading, PA and Dennis McCann, 56, of Freeport, engaged in a hand to hand drug transaction. McCann was found to be in possession of one plastic bag containing cocaine. Detectives recovered 86 bags of cocaine, weighing approximately 49.5 grams, in Serrano-Nova’s vehicle.
Merrick
  • Derek Cantamessa, 41, of Rockville Centre was arrested on April 11 at the intersection of Merrick Road and Henry Street and charged with driving while intoxicated as well as one vehicle and traffic law violation.

Roosevelt
  • On April 18 at 11:40 p.m., Malachi E. Campbell, 29, picked up his 7 year old son from his Farmingdale residence for an arranged visitation. When the child was returned, he had multiple contusions on his body as a result of being struck with a belt. Campbell was arrested at his residence. A subsequent investigation lead to the discovery of a .38 caliber revolver, two boxes of 9mm ammunition, marijuana, and methamphetamine in the home. Rebbie Ann Faucet, 28, also a resident of the home, was present at the time with her three children, a male infant, a 6-year-old male, and a 9-year-old female. She was placed under arrest.
  • On April 18 at 9:45 a.m., two females, 13 and 12, were walking on Hansom Place in the vicinity of Centennial Avenue when they were approached by an unknown male Hispanic operating a gray SUV type vehicle. The subject asked the victims to get in the car to which they refused and walked away. 
  • Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced the most significant gang bust in County history, arresting 14 members and four associates of the ultra-violent “Rollin’ 60s” for crimes including attempted murder, assault, robbery, gun sales, and drug sales. The arrests included the gang’s leader, Raphael “Gusto” Osborne, 27, of Roosevelt. The Rollin’ 60s are a violent set of the Crips street gang and have been operating in Roosevelt since approximately 2001.
  • On April 14 at 3:53 p.m., a male victim, while in Kennedy Park, was accosted by several males who stabbed and shot him. Witnesses at the scene notified police. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was later identified as William Garcia, 23, of Roosevelt.
