Cops: Man Drove Drunk With Child in Back Seat
Police spotted the Baldwin resident "driving unsafely" on the Southern State Parkway, which led to his being pulled over and arrested.
A Baldwin man was arrested Sunday for allegedly driving drunk on the Southern State Parkway while a 5-year-old was in the back seat.
According to New York State Police, at 3 a.m., Farmingdale Troopers stopped a white Acura for moving in and out of its lane unsafely on the westbound side of the parkway near the Meadowbrook State Parkway.
While interviewing the driver, Marcos Espinal, 34, of Baldwin, cops said they detected the smell of alcohol. Espinal failed sobriety tests and was arrested for DWI.
Cops also found a 5-year-old child in the back seat.
Espinal produced a positive breath sample of .22% BAC, cops said. He's been charged with aggravated DWI, endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and traffic violations. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead.
