Emerald City West Continues to Thrive

Wherever Emerald City West has been over the years, customers have always seemed to follow.

In business since 1979, Joanne Bivona, a former board member for the Merrick Chamber of Commerce, is happy to be back in Merrick after a nine-year stint in Bellmore. The shopping center the popular salon was in closed, thus forcing a move to 2202 Jerusalem Ave., which is relocation that she welcomed.

Bivona said that her clients have been loyal and followed the business throughout its journey.

“They’ve been following us since we began,” Bivona said.

Bivona added that the treatment of the customers is what leads to loyalty.

“You have to be nice to your clients,” she said. “They come first. If you’re nice to them, then they’ll be nice to you. “

Bivona recently celebrated the new location’s ribbon cutting with leaders from throughout Merrick.
