Two Killed in Meadowbrook Parkway Accident

With Michael Ganci

Local fire officials have confirmed that two people were killed in a car accident on the Meadowbrook Parkway.

The incident occurred shortly after noon on Monday, just south of the Southern State Parkway.

"It looks like two pedestrians were struck," Trooper Frank Bandiero, public information officer for Troop L in Farmingdale, told Newsday.

He added that it appears like the two victims were outside of their vehicles when they were stuck by a single car.

Traffic was backed up on the Meadowbrook Parkway southbound between the Southern State Parkway and Babylon Turnpike.

The parkway is closed southbound just before exit M6 (Southern State Parkway).

In 2010, three people were killed in a single-car accident at that same stretch of the Meadowbrook Parkway. The three individuals - including two sisters - were camp counselors on their way to work.
