More than 630 Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) customers in Merrick are in the dark after a transformer blew near the intersection of Merrick Avenue and Horatio Avenue Saturday morning.

According to Elizabeth Flagler from the LIPA media relations department, a crew is currently on site, however she said repairs could take up to three hours.

The LIPA outage map originally estimated a restoration time of 10:30 a.m.
