Merrick Jewish Centre Welcomes New Assistant Rabbi

The Merrick Jewish Centre (www.merrickjc.org) has announced that Rabbi Ravid Tilles has been named to the new position of Assistant Rabbi.

Rabbi Tilles, along with his wife, Yaffa, and their son, Avishai, will be welcomed to the congregation during a special Shabbat dinner Friday night and a joyous Shabbat service on August 3rd.  Additional welcoming events will be planned.

Rabbi Tilles, who recently received his Rabbinical ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America in New York, has extensive experience working with both congregations and Jewish youth. He will join the clergy team of Rabbi Charles Klein, who has been the synagogue’s religious leader for 35 years, and Cantor Ethan Leifer.

In his new position, Rabbi Tilles will work closely with Rabbi Klein and Cantor Leifer and will be responsible for officiating at some Shabbat and High Holidays services and life cycle events. He will also work with the synagogue’s bar and bat mitzvah students to enhance their experience, teach in the Community Hebrew High School and focus on programs designed to reach children of pre and post bar mitzvah age, high school and college students, young professionals and young families.
