A focus on families has been clear since Karen graduated in 1994 from the State University of New York at Stonybrook with her Masters of Social Work degree. Karen trained at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center and the Schneider Children's Hospital Outpatient Psychiatric Clinic for Children, Adolescent and Families.( now renamed The Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center) Karen has gone on to obtain entry into the Academy of Certified Social Workers and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as designated by New York State.

Karen has extensive experience working for many of Long Island's premiere child, adolescent and family mental health institutions including North Shore Child and Family Guidance Center, Long Island Jewish Medical Center and she was also the Program Manager for the Zucker Hillside Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Out Patient Clinic. Karen has also maintained a private practice since her graduation. Karen has presented workshops, lectures and classes for many preschools, schools and library districts throughout Nassau County.
