An intersting thought from another blog site: It's just as likely tree roots blocking the systemRead More - that happened near our house, once. During a good rain storm, the water would spot through the holes in the manhole cover, and actually lift the cover off the hole! Interesting enough, once the city was finally convinced to repair the problem, out basement quit leaking during those storms. Posted by: Tom | October 05, 2012 at 07:22 AM

Just admit you are a narcissist and only care about what happens to YOU. You could care less thatRead More Merrick Road and south of Merrick Road streets were flooded with 5 feet of water from Sandy and created numerous dangers like contamination, mold, electrical problems, etc...Which is STILL ONGOING, any months later. In your eyes it isn't "dangerous", only "tragic" because it didn't happen in your neighborhood. Well, guess what YOU ARE WRONG. I'll go away as soon as you stop your nonsensical postings. Don't post an article/ question if you do not want a discussion. Merrick Patch is NOT your personal blog.

Road flooding is a massive problem in this area. Clogged sewers are the reason for this. TwoRead More particular examples are the intersection of Hewlett Avenue and Smith Street and at the intersection of Hewlett Avenue and Merrick Road. Apart from never being cleaned out as part of any regular maintenance activity, I often see debris being deliberately swept into the sewer gratings.

Dressing in layers always worked for me with wearing the hat, scarf and gloves. So why is it that IRead More see people all the time (and it could at any place) complaining about the cold outside and are not properly dressed for the weather? Jumping up and down with thier hands in their pockets like some kind of entertainment. Yes baby it's cold outside. But just some common sense folks. Just plain old common sense. But snow this afternoon? I'll be waiting. Some overtime for me.

Oh no!!! Cancel school, clean out the grocery store. We've never had snow before!!! People inRead More Buffalo laugh at the Tri-State hysteria every time we get some snow. Now get up off your butts, put on some long-johns and make a snow man and throw snowballs at your creepy neighbors houset!!!
