Merrick Community Nursery School
516-868-1071
The Merrick Community Nursery School was founded in 1955 and offers classes for students ages 18 months to 4 years. Many of the teachers have advanced degrees and have specialized in early childhood education.
Parents, extended family members or caregivers participate in their child’s classroom on a rotation schedule by bringing a snack to share and becoming a “teacher’s helper.”
All students play outside each day in a fenced-in playground that has a tree house, sandbox and bike path.
During the summer months, the school operates as the Merrick Community Summer Camp, which is one of the few summer programs geared exclusively for preschool children. Parent participation is not required during the summer session.
The school's director is Barbara Goodman.
