The Chatterton School, one of three elementary schools in the Merrick School District, serves 500 students from kindergarten to grade 6.
The average class size is 21 students.
The parents and staff of Chatterton School established and adopted the following mission:
To provide a solid foundation for lifelong learning focusing on:
- an interactive learning environment, fostering creative, independent thinkers and decision makers
- a mastery of skills for discovery, research and inquiry
- a recognition of different needs and learning styles, enabling our children to be the best that they can be
- a safe and secure environment where everyone is treated with respect
