Happy Thanksgiving!

Posted on November 27, 2013by wendykarasin

Wednesday, 9 a.m. The weather is dreary – a fast storm approaching, the butternut squash doesn’t taste the way I hoped, I need a manicure. Yet little can dampen my excitement. This is my favorite holiday. All American, no religious relevance, all about gratitude. Today will require last minute running for necessary ingredients (definitely more butternut squash), the baking of pumpkin bread, figuring out what dishes and wines to use, getting out the good silver.

I relish this holiday, a gathering of loved ones, comfy cozy in my home. A fire burning in the den will add another layer of warmth. Stuffing is made, check, cranberry sauce is made, check, squash is made (but we are scrapping that and starting again), check. My kids will arrive this evening, other guests tomorrow afternoon. My house is clean, although my desire to keep it that way with cooking and kids, is futile. Still I try.

I will keep this post short as there is much to do. I send a strong and loving wish for a healthy, joyous Thanksgiving, gathering of friends and family, good food to share. Let’s make our entry into the holiday season a memorable one that can surpass the test of time. The medium told me my departed family will be here as I cook. At the risk of sounding crazy, I intend to slow down enough to include and enjoy them.
