With more wet and windy weather on the way, households in Merrick are already without power, according to the Long Island Power Authority's (LIPA) outage map.
As of 6:23 p.m. Monday 52 outages have been reported.
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for both Nassau and Suffolk counties until 10 p.m. this evening. Possible thunder and lightning, as well as winds gusting up to 38 miles per hour, are expected Monday evening.
