The North and Central Merrick Civic Association awarded its 2012 Community Service Scholarships to Lindsay Macaluso and Nicholas Calabro in appreciation of their volunteering hundreds of selfless hours of service to our community over the years.
On Friday, August 17, Board members Lenny and Francine Goldstein graciously opened their home for the ceremony to the Civic Assocation, the scholarship recipients, and their families. The NCMCA and Nassau County Legislator Dave Denenberg (D-Merrick) gave Lindsay and Nick citations for their service to the Merrick community.
The NCMCA wishes Lindsay and Nick good luck in college.
Legislator Denenberg also offers his district office in Bellmore to the NCMCA, where children are provided community service opportunities to not only help the NCMCA in its endeavors, but to help Denenberg in his legislative duties.
Community service opportunities will continue in the fall. Anyone interested in joining the NCMCA’s Community Service Program, please contact Claudia Borecky at 972-6988 or via email at claudiaborecky@gmail.com. Parent volunteers are always welcome as well.
