Vine Wine Bar to Host Sandy Relief Fundraiser

The Vine Wine Bar, located at 2259 Merrick Rd. in Merrick, will be holding a fundraiser to benefit the Hurricane Sandy relief efforts on Nov. 10 from 12-3 p.m.

They will be collecting donations for the American Red Cross and offering a free glass of wine (21 and over) for every $25 donated. 100 percent of the proceeds received will be given to the Red Cross for the Hurricane Sandy relief effort. In addition, The Vine Wine Bar will transform into a drop off location for supplies to be donated to the residents of Long Beach. The focus will be on collecting the items that the residents are in most dire need for at this time:

PRIORITY ITEMS: Mops, candles, Clorox wipes, paper towels, 6 foot tables, lighters, feminine products, adult diapers, shampoo, soap, band-aids, latex gloves, garbage bags, winter gloves, blankets, hand and feet warmers, socks (in package), underwear (men and women all sizes in package)

MAJOR NEEDS: Baby supplies, Baby Formula and Food, Dog and Cat food, Towels, Air Fresheners, Brooms, First-Aid kits, Cotton Balls, Mouthwash, Floss, Body Spray, AAA Batteries, Gluten-Free Products, Plastic bins for storage, Generators, Gas, Gas cans.

NEEDS: Industrial Strength black garbage bags, heavy duty rubber gloves, commercial dust masks, non-perishable food, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, toiletries, paper goods, manual can openers, disposable cameras, markers and poster board, sanitary wipes, cleaning supplies, water, soap, cereal, granola bars, packaged drinks, towels, tarps, hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol, laundry detergent, toothbrush, toothpaste, cold medicine.

Hurricane Sandy has caused some of the worst devastation that the South Shore of Long Island has ever had to endure. We all know somebody who is going through a tough time right now and could use some help. The staff of The Vine Wine Bar strongly encourages everyone in the community to come out and support our neighbors on Saturday as we help them get back on their feet and start the process of rebuilding.
