North Merrick Library Hosts Summer Reading Club Celebration

There were 260 children at the celebration.

On Tuesday, Aug. 14, the North Merrick Public Library hosted a Summer Reading Club Celebration to commemorate the end of the program for the season.

Approximately 260 children, along with their parents, attended the celebration. Participants were entertained throughout the evening by the Bodacious Book Show, which featured an interactive game show and a special version of “Jack and the Beanstalk.” Attendees were also treated to ice cream to celebrate their great accomplishment.

Through North Merrick Public Library’s Summer Reading Club, children in grades kindergarten through six were encouraged to read eight books throughout the summer months. Approximately 470 children enrolled in the club and embarked on their reading goal. As a reward for reading their books, participants were invited to the library’s celebration, at which the children were also recognized with certificates of achievement.
