Photo of the Day: Rebuilding of Merrick Ballfields Coming to Fruition

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray and Councilman Gary Hudes recently joined a team of Hempstead Town carpenters who are rebuilding a ball field dugout at Merrick Road Park in Merrick.

The dugout is one of two in the park that was destroyed during Hurricane Sandy.

By doing the repair work in-house with its own personnel, the Town is saving considerable time and money.

The skill and versatility of parks department employees have enabled the town to perform a majority of the refurbishments necessary after Hurricane Sandy. Work at town parks, pools and beaches has been expedited to prepare for the busy spring and summer seasons.
