Holy Trinity Athletes Excel at NSCHSAA Championships

A Merokean was part of was track and field success.

Holy Trinity senior Caroline Brown of Baldwin competed at the NSCHSAA Indoor League Championship on Jan. 27 at St. Anthony’s and came home with two wins and the MVP award.

Brown won the 1,500 meter for the second year in a row. This year, she finished with a time of 4:51.08, over seven seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Her win in the 3000 meter came with a time of 10:20.60, which was over five seconds ahead of second place. The meet ended with Brown receiving her deserved recognition as MVP of the League.  Brown has committed to running for SUNY Buffalo for next year.

Caroline Brown wasn’t the only track and field winner for Holy Trinity. The boy’s varsity 4x200 team took first place with a time of 1:33.90. The team consisted of sophomore Ryan Archibold of Amityville; senior Eric Pierce of Merrick; sophomore Shaka Shomari of Hempstead and junior Nathaniel Small of Roosevelt.
