North Merrick Schools Announces Rescheduling Plans

The North Merrick Board of Education passed a motion Tuesday night at Fayette Elementary School to make changes to the school calendar due to classroom time that was lost because of Hurricane Sandy.

According to Superintendent David Feller, Feb. 20-22, which were initially days off from school, will now be instructional days for students. Children will also report for  a full day of school on April 2.

Also of note, March 7, which was initially put aside to be a day for parent/teacher conferences, will now be a school day, and children will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m. Parent/teacher conferences will commence after that.

"That’s the recommended calendar," Feller said. "We collaborated with the North Merrick Faculty Association and that’s seeking your approval."

The motion carried with no objections.
