Lakeside Students Make Valentines for Vets

Students at Levy Lakeside School designed cards for the Town of Hempstead's Valentines for Veterans program.

Hempstead Town Councilwoman Angie Cullin (right, back row) congratulates students who participated in the Valentines for Vets program at Levy Lakeside School in Merrick.  Through this program, which the Town instituted in 2001, students create valentines to send to veterans at local VA hospitals.  Many of these men and women don't have families and it means a lot to them to know that the young children appreciate them for the sacrifices they made for our nation.  Also pictured are Principal Miriam Haran and Assistant Principal Sean Murray.
