"Make A Splash—Read" Summer Reading Program for Children

Registeration is ongoing beginning today through July 31  for this summer reading program for children entering Kindergarten through 6th grade in September. Participants can read alone or with an adult -- and are invited to come down to the library and “dive” right into a summer of fun. “Make A Splash—Read” is the statewide public library theme this year.

This is a summer reading incentive program. Those who finish reading the required number of books will receive theme related prizes, puzzles and an invitation to a Summer Celebration Party!

The party will include a dessert treat and spectacular entertainment featuring madcap balloon artist Allynn Gooen who will create instant theater using balloons to make sets, props and costumes!

The first 100 children who sign up will be offered a ticket to a unique Live Animal Show , Fish Tales and Ocean Odd Balls , presented by Bill Boesenberg, a reptile trainer and owner of the company Snakes and Scales. The show will be presented Wednesday, June 30th 7pm.

At registration club members will receive a list of Summer Activities, a bookmark, a Water Log to list books read and some Very Special Prizes just for signing up!

The goal of the club will be to read eight books for the summer. If a book is 100 pages or more it will count as two books. For every two  books read the child will receive a “water” related prize! Read the required eight books and receive an invitation to our special party, to be held Monday, August 16, and also receive a very special final prize!
