Bellmore-Merrick CHSD BOE Accepts Bond Resolution

The board authorized Monday, Dec. 2 for residents within the school district to vote on the proposed plan.

The Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District Board of Education voted unanimously this week to move forward with plans for a community vote on its proposed capital project

The board authorized Monday, Dec. 2 for residents within the school district to vote on the proposed plan.

If voters approve the project, buildings in the district would receive upgrades to electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems. There will also be upgrades to security and the schools science rooms and athletic fields.

“We are excited to officially present this plan to the voters of our community,”  Board of Education President Susan Schwartz said. “Not only will students, staff and the greater community benefit from these improvements, but we are able to complete the work at a highly reduced cost by taking advantage of New York State building aid.”

The total anticipated cost of the project is $49.896 million with $26.894 million being funded through New York State building aid. For the average household in the district, the project will cost  $104 a year, or $8.67 a month.
