Bellmore-Merrick BOE Honored for Board Recognition Week

Students from Grand Avenue and Merrick Avenue middle schools gave two presentations to thank the Board of Education.

Members of the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School Board of Education were honored during a recent school board meeting.

Students from Grand Avenue and Merrick Avenue  middle schools gave two presentations-one artistic and one musical-to thank the eight-member Board of Education for their service to the district.

The Grand Avenue Select Chorus, under the direction of Amanda Cantwell, performed Coldplay’s “The Scientist” and Earth, Wind and Fire’s “September.”

In a project based on a bookmaking and journaling lesson, students in art teacher Barbara Farchione’s class constructed accordion books with inspirational quotes and pictures related to the school. Each board member received his or her own booklet.

“From all of us who work in the central office and in our buildings, we really appreciate everything you do for us each and every day,” Superintendent of Schools John DeTommaso said.
