The two women were advised to stay out of he home until a representative from the Hempstead Town Buildings Department could do a thorough inspection. The woman was staying at a neighbor's house in the meantime, sources said.

The tree that fell sits at 1687 Frederick Ave., and the homeowner told Patch that the insurance company had been previously called regarding that tree, and he was told that "they couldn't do anything until the tree fell."

"That just makes no sense to me," he added, saying that initial concern was due to potential water damage from Hurricane Sandy.

There was no official word on how extensive the damage was.
