Editor's Note: The following was written by Adam Langbert, Director of Merrick Woods.
As you know, all exterior classroom doors are locked at the beginning of the school day, and remain locked throughout the day.
In addition, we have just installed a "buzz in" system for our front office door which will allow it to also remain locked throughout the day. All visitors, including parents, must be buzzed in or have the door opened by a Merrick Woods staff member.
We have installed a magnetic lock on the gate at the side of building 1 which will also remain locked throughout the school day. We will disarm these locks for arrival and dismissal times, but lock them again 15 minutes after the start of each session. We are also in the process of updating our outdoor camera system.
