The North Merrick Library Board of Trustees will hold a special Budget Meeting

The North Merrick Library Trustees met for their monthly meeting on December 15, 2009. The Trustees accepted the monthly Treasurer's report; which noted the Library's cash balance as of November 30th as $1,739,128.59 and the current years budget being underspent by $140,455.01. This cash balance almost equals the library's annual budget of $2 million dollars. If the budget is constantly underspent, why is it necessary to increase taxes? Isn't it time for a decrease in the Library's annual budget and lower the tax rate!!!!!
