Woman Sent to Hospital in Dog Attack

The dogs attacked the woman while on her way into Brookside School.

Merrick Patch has learned that there was a dog attack on the property of Brookside School that sent one woman to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to one source, the dogs – two pitbulls – broke loose Wednesday night and came out of the woods and attacked a woman who was arriving at Brookside on Thursday morning.

"She was mauled," the source said.

That source also explained that one dog had been shot and captured.

Another source who spoke to Merrick Patch about the incident said that the other dog involved in the attack was hit by a car on the Southern State as it fled northbound, but was still on the loose.

Nassau County Police was on the scene, as well as Town of Hempstead's Animal Control Division. Police aviation was also on the scene looking for the loose animal.

The second source descibed the loose dog as brown and white colored pitbull.
