After cops responded to a call regarding a suspicious package at Taco Bell in Merrick Saturday, an investigation revealed that the item in question was harmless.
According to police, they received a call at 6:34 p.m. about a suspicious backpack that was placed near the dumpster behind the store. Both Taco Bell and Burger King were evacuated as a precaution while the Arson Bomb Squad and Emergency Services Unit responded.

Both parking lots were also taped off until safety could be insured, and Merrick Road was closed down as well.
"After an investigation by arson bomb detectors, no explosives were found," police said.
