Police Shoot, Kill Pit Bull in North Merrick

Police are still waiting for confirmation if it is the same dog that attacked a woman at Brookside School.

Police shot and killed a pit bull in front of Precious Kids in North Merrick on Monday around 3 p.m.

"We are still waiting for identification from a squad," said a police officer at the scene. It is believed that this was the second pit bull that attacked a North Merrick woman and evaded police.

A witness and employee at Precious Kids in North Merrick told Merrick Patch that the ordeal "was terrifying. We just heard gun shots and the police pulled up and they shot the dog. They got rid of it quickly too."
