Police: Merrick Man Assaulted Officer

An officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment after the alleged assault.

A Merrick man was arrested Monday evening after allegedly assaulting a police officer and then resisting arrest.

According to Nassau County detectives, around 6:10 p.m., Seventh Precinct police officers responded to a call for a neighbor disturbance on Blanche Lane.

As the officer was trying to question defendant, Kenneth Wat, 53, he began flailing his arms and hands in the officer's face, refusing to be questioned, police said.
