Police: Merokean Sold Alcohol to Minor

A Merrick man was among those arrested on Friday during a "Project 21 Initiative" by the Nassau County Police Department.

According to detectives, Julio Rodriguez, 51, of Merrick, sold alcohol to a minor from Bodega Hispana in Hempstead.

Also arrested were the following:

  • Isabel Jurado, 55, of Hicksville, sold alcohol to a minor from Noldos Deli III in Hempstead.
  • Rajinder Singh, 29, of Queens Village, sold alcohol to a minor from Son’s Liquor Store in Hempstead.
  • Rohit Sharma, 22, of Hempstead, sold alcohol to a minor from Shamrock in Hempstead.
  • Sukhminder, 43, of Richmond Hill, sold alcohol to a minor from B.P. Amoco in Hempstead.
  • Ryan C. Surlis, 21, of Franklin Square, sold alcohol to a minor from Bedrock Bar & Grill in Hempstead.

Cops enlisted the services of an underage agent to help make these Hempstead arrests, police said.

All of the arrestees were charged with prohibited sale of alcoholic beverage and unlawful dealing with a child and were released on appearance tickets. They are due back at First District Court in Hempstead on Feb. 13.
