MTA: Suspicious Package Found Near Merrick LIRR Station

LIRR service restored after investigation.

LIRR service has been restored after police found a suspicious package near the Merrick train station, according to MTA officials.

LIRR representatives said a suspicious package was found near the Merrick LIRR station after 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Trains were briefly suspended on the Babylon and Montauk branches as police investigated the incident, officials said.

Service was restored as of 3:42 p.m. Tuesday.

Police did not confirm where the package was found but said it was found in the vicinity of the Merrick station.
