Merrick Woman Arrested in Large Drug Bust

Traffic stop leads to controlled substance arrests in Elmont.

A Merrick woman was arrested Sunday after a traffic stop in Elmont turned into a major drug bust.

According to Nassau County detectives, around 8:25 p.m., 29-year-old Anthony Toscano, of Elmont, was operating a 2007 GMC on Dutch Broadway when officers assigned to the Bureau of Special Operations CIRRT unit conducted a traffic stop.

During the investigation Toscano was found to be in possession of oxycodone pills and a plastic bag containing what police said appeared to be marijuana.

Riding as a passenger with Toscano was 26-year-old Callie Faustmann, of Merrick. Police said Faustmann was found to be in possession of a number of pills, including alprazolan, diazepam and oxycodone, as well as two plastic bags containing what police believed was cocaine.

The duo was placed under arrest without incident.

Detectives executed a search warrant of Toscano’s bedroom in Elmont Monday morningand recovered an AK-47 Romarm/Cugir, a Mossberg shotgun, a large quantity of pills including oxycodone, xanax, hydrocodone, ecstasy and methadone, along with plastic bags of heroin, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine and hashish.  

Faustman was charged with seven counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree. She was issued a desk appearance ticket to appear in First District Court in Hempstead on Aug. 8.

Toscano was charged with six counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree. He will be arraigned on Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
