Merrick Store Owner Seeks Help in Identifying Shoplifter

A man allegedly stole a bottle of vodka from Merrick Wines & Spirits Thursday morning.

According to Joseph Pascual, the store's owner, the incident took place at 11:08 a.m. After the man entered the store via the back door, he went straight to the vodka section.

Store officials say he then took a 750 milliliter bottle of Absolut Vodka and put it into his jacket. He then took out his phone (as if he had a call), and proceeded out the back door that he entered from.

The bottle of vodka he allegedly stole retails for $21.99, and he was described as being between 40 and 50 years old, approximately 5-foot-6, and he was wearing glasses. He fled the scene on a bike, store officials added.

If you have any information on this man's identification, please call Merrick Wines & Spirits at 516-223-8400.
