Merrick FD Rescues Person from Car

The Merrick Fire Department responded to the scene of a serious accident Monday afternoon, rescuing a victim from their vehicle.

According to fire department officials, the incident occurred at Sunrise Highway and Babylon Turnpike around 3:45 p.m.

The Jaws of Life had to be used to extricate a victim. That person was transported to a local hospital. Their condition is unknown.

Sunrise Highway was shut down briefly while the accident was cleared.
