Man Questioned for Loitering at Birch School

Editor's Note: The following letter was written and submitted by Merrick School District Superintendent Dr. Dominick Palma.

Dear Parents:

On Friday, January 11, 2013 and again on Monday, January 14, 2013, community members reported an unidentified man on Birch School grounds.

The Nassau County Police Department was alerted in both cases. They indicated that they would increase patrols of the school. Review of our security camera recordings did not show anyone matching the description on Friday. Recordings from Monday displayed a man on school grounds that fit the description.

The Nassau County Police Department has identified the man and questioned the individual. He has been advised that he is not permitted on school grounds and that he would be arrested if he enters school grounds.

I would like to remind community members: “If you see something, say something.”

Dominick Palma
Superintendent of Schools
