Electrical Fire Reported in Merrick

An electrical fire broke out near the intersection of Lindenmere Drive and Harbor Road in Merrick around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to a Merrick Fire Department spokesman, the main electrical wires that come from the utility pole and connect to the meter and fuse panel was on fire. Nobody was injured, and firefighters had to wait for the Long Island Power Authority to respond and turn off power to the house.

The damage was contained to the outside of the house, he added.

The cause of the fire was being investigated and Patch will provide more details when they are made available.
