Dog Attack Leaves Woman with Serious Injuries

The hunt is still on for one of the dogs involved in the attack.

One dog is still on the loose from Thursday's attack on a woman at Brookside School, Nassau County Police said.

According to police, at approximately 11 a.m., the woman called 911 screaming that she was at the Senior Center located in the Brookside School and was being attacked by dogs. The 62-year-old woman had just finished walking on the track when she was approached by both dogs.

Police officers responded to find the woman on the southwest corner of the parking lot being attacked by two pitbull-type dogs. As the officers approached the scene, the dogs turned their focus and began to approach the officers. At that time, the officers fired at the dogs, striking one, causing both dogs to run from the area into the field behind the school.
