Crime Report: Robberies, Attempted Break-ins, DWI

  • A prowler was seen looking into the back window of a Merrick Woods home on Dec. 20 between 4-4:30 p.m. For an eyewitness report of what happened, click here.
  • At 7:25 p.m. on Dec. 21, a home on Rosebud Avenue was broken into via the rear door, but nothing was reported stolen.
  • Also on Dec. 21, after 7:40 p.m., a home on East Kirkwood Avenue was broken into via the second story window, and nothing was reported stolen there either.
  • After 10 p.m. on Dec. 19, someone broke into an unlocked vehicle on Seawane Drive in Merrick and stole electronics.
  • Another vehicle on Seawane Drive was broken into after 11 p.m. while it was parked in the driveway. Although it was left unlocked, nothing was stolen, according to police.
  • At 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 20, the complainant noticed that her vehicle, which was parked on Robbin Lane in Merrick, had been ransacked. Her handicap permits were reported stolen.
  • After 3:15 a.m. on Dec. 23, an unlocked vehicle that was parked on Halyard Drive in Merrick was broken into, and a pocketbook, cash and other items were stolen.
  • Before 9 a.m. on Dec. 24, a complainant that lives on Wynsum Avenue noticed that his car was broken into. A pocketbook, along with other miscellaneous items were stolen, and no damage was reported to the vehicle.
  • On Dec. 25, before 9:30 a.m., a complainant noticed that his unlocked vehicle that was parked on Charlotte Drive was broken into, and money was taken.
  • After 8 p.m. on Dec. 27, a woman who lives on Denton Drive noticed that the door to her vehicle was ajar, and electronics were stolen. There was no damage to the vehicle reported.
  • On Dec. 29 at 2:50 a.m., a man that was denied bathroom access at 7-Eleven, located at 203 Sunrise Highway, became irate and kicked a display, which caused property damage.
  • Between 4:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Dec. 22, unknown suspect(s) through bricks at both of the complainant's vehicles on Argyle Road in Merrick.
  • On Dec. 27, at 10:55 p.m., Tiffany Lopez, 21, of Bellmore, was arrested at the intersection of Shoreham Way and Whaleneck Drive in Merrick and charged with driving while intoxicated and obstructing governmental administration.
  • On Dec. 29, at 7:16 a.m.,  Angelo Guzman, 23 of Woodhaven, was arrested near the intersection of Merrick Avenue and Merrick Road and charged with driving while impaired, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and three violations of the vehicle and traffic law.
