Crime Report: Mother and Son Busted for Heroin, Hit and Run Arrest

A Merrick mother and son were arrested just after 9 p.m. Monday for drug possession in on Bellmore Avenue, police said. Click here for more on this story.

  • At 5:15 p.m. on March 31, Nicholas Casiello, 23, of North Merrick, was arrested at Newbridge Road and Dock Road in Bellmore and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and four violations of the vehicle and traffic law.
  • Sometime between 7 p.m. on April 3 and 10 a.m. on April 4, a GPS was removed from unlocked vehicle on Rhode Avenue in North Merrick.
  • Sometime between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on April 6, a cell phone was stolen at Mepham High School.
  • Sometime between 9:30 p.m. on April 2 and 8:20 a.m. on April 3, unknown suspect(s) stole iPads from complainant's vehicle on South Hewlett Avenue.
  • Sometime between March 29 and March 30, a complainant discovered two bicycles stolen from his garage on Babylon Road in Merrick.
  • On April 8 after 6:30 p.m., a complainant’s phone was stolen while he was playing basketball at Merrick Road Park.
