Crime Report: Men Arrested for Government Obstruction, Assault

The following arrest information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

  • On Dec. 13, Kevin Fortune, 24, of Merrick was arrested at his home and charged with violation of probation.
  • A complainant left her pocketbook in the shopping cart in Waldbaums. When she returned to the cart, the pocketbook was no longer in it. This incident was reported on Dec. 13.
  • On Dec. 13, a complainant parked at Cancos Tile and walked across the street to have dinner.  When complainant returned to his 2006 gray Honda Ridgeline, he discovered the driver side window broken and a camera stolen.
  • Two black males were reported to have stolen two tablets from the Verizon Store on Sunrise Highway on Dec. 16.
  • On Dec. 17, Jonathan Bencosme, 22, of Merrick, was arrested at Narwood Avenue and charged with obstruction of government administration in the second degree.
  • On Dec. 17, Ryan Burbes, 18, of Merrick, was arrested on Narwood Avenue, Merrick and charged with assault in the third degree.
  • On Dec. 18, a wallet was stolen from a shopper at Waldbaums.
  • Sometime between Dec. 18 and Dec. 19, it was discovered that an unknown suspect or suspects removed the door handles from the complainant’s 1992 red Toyota that was parked on Clubhouse Road.
