Cops: Woman in Critical Condition After Crash

21-year-old woman thrown from car in Merrick crash; identities not yet disclosed by police.

A woman is in critical condition after she was propelled through a window in a Sunrise Highway crash Monday evening, according to Nassau County Police.

Cops said the 21-year-old victim was in the rear passenger side of a 2004 Honda when it collided with a 2006 Hyundai on Sunrise Highway. The force of the crash ejected her from the car through a rear passenger door window, police reported.

Detectives said the crash happened at 6:29 p.m. Monday at Sunrise Highway and Hewlett Avenue in Merrick.

The woman was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital with multiple injuries and is listed in critical condition, cops said.

A 20-year-old male driver and 19-year old female passenger were in the Honda at the time of the crash, while the Hyundai was driven by a 23-year-old woman, police said. All three were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

No criminality is suspected, police said, but they are continuing to investigate the crash.

Police did not release the identities of the four involved in the crash.
