Cops: Freeport Man Reported by Daughter for DWI

A Freeport man was arrested Wednesday night in Roslyn after he was reported to be driving drunk by his 14-year-old daughter.

According to detectives, Ja Mail Lewis, 37, was driving westbound on the Long Island Expressway when the call was made to police. His daughter told cops her father "was possibly drunk" and stated that her 12-year-old sister was also in the vehicle.

Officers then located the vehicle and pulled it over near exit 39 in Roslyn. Officers determined that Lewis was driving while intoxicated, and they placed him under arrest.

Lewis was charged with two counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated, driving while ability impaired combined influence, driving while ability impaired drugs, driving while intoxicated and an additional vehicle and traffic law violation. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Feb. 7.
