Cops Charge Duo in Friday Morning West Hempstead Burglary

Two broke into West Hempstead home and stole jewelry early Friday morning, cops said.

Two men face burglary charges after Nassau County Police say they broke into a West Hempstead home.

Police were called to a Morton Avenue home at 12 a.m. Friday when witnesses saw two men in a neighbor's yard, cops said. Responding officers found the basement door had been kicked in and a red jewelry box was missing. Two men were seen running toward Oak Street by witnesses.

Jadiel Cruz, 25, and Hector Castillo, 25, both of West Hempstead, were located and charged without incident. The proceeds of the burglary were found.

Cruz and Castillo were charged with second-degree burglary and will be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.

Burg alarms work. Ademco systems are reliable and last. Do-it-yourself systems are available at Radio Shack. For two hundred dollars, Radio Shack has a four camera, monitor and 24 hour play back that is easy to install.
