Calhoun Student Followed by Stranger in White Van

The incident occurred on Wednesday at the intersection Thelma Avenue and Murray Place.

A Calhoun High School student reported that she was followed home by a man in a white mini-van on Wednesday, according to a message sent by the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District. 

The student was walking home at the intersection of  Thelma Avenue and Murray Place in North Merrick around 3:10 p.m, when she realized that she was being followed by a black man in his mid 20s driving a mini-van. 

After she realized that she was being followed, the student turned and ran in the opposite direction where the van could not turn. She got to her home unharmed.

Her parents notified the Nassau County Police Department.
