Brooklyn Man Busted for Merrick Burglary

The man was doing exterior work on the residence when he allegedly broke in to the house and stole jewelry, cops said.

A Brooklyn man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly stole jewelry from a home in Merrick, cops said.

According to detectives, Zaheer Ahmad, 21, who's employed as a construction worker for Crown Builders Corp., allegedly stole jewelry from a Charlotte Drive residence Thursday while he was on site doing exterior work on the home.

Police said he entered the homeowner's bedroom, and the jewelry hasn't been recovered.

Ahmed was arrested Saturday, and he's been charged with second-degree burglary. His arraignment is scheduled for Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
